Best Answer: Do you mean on the ticket gates at stations? Trains aren't equipped with any form of Oyster reader, nor are trams or DLR trains. Oyster cards don't beep on ticket gates, only on buses - this is to let the driver know the person who's just touched on has a child card, so he or she can look at the person and decide if he/she is a child or not. On ticket gates it is shown on the monitor at the end of the gateline, or the gates can be set to reject all child tickets so the passenger has to go to the side gate and be checked manually.
Yeh I do agree! I mean, on the bus, it has a sticker saying everyone should show an oyster card inc over 11's. But the thing is, under 16's/full time education are free anyway, so i dont see why they should show an oyster card. They should start them at 15, and then make them compulsary.
